The Canis project by the young Matthias Greenhalgh, fresh out of the Master in Publishing Practices at the ArBA-EsA, is organized into a series of various printed and editorial object. Canis started from a desire to investigate the links between humans and animals, in this case between dogs and humans, by studying the co-evolution and the symbiosis between these two species, undoubtedly the two that have been most closely related to each other, for millennia. It is also, and above all, as a trigger, simply the story of a man, the artist’s father, and his dog, Romeo, of their interactions and a brief glimpse into their lives. It was therefore also a question of experimenting with how to take pictures of animals, without falling into the clichés of animal photography. Thus, in the chosen presentation system, the artist invites us to place ourselves at the physical level of the animal and to try to see how it apprehends its environment.
