Matthieu Saladin est artiste et musicien. Sa pratique s\u2019inscrit dans une approche conceptuelle de l\u2019art,<\/span> r\u00e9fl\u00e9chissant, \u00e0 travers un usage r\u00e9current du son, sur la production d\u2019espaces, l\u2019histoire des formes et des processus de cr\u00e9ation, ainsi que sur les rapports entre art et soci\u00e9t\u00e9 du point de vue \u00e9conomique et politique. Elle s\u2019articule aussi bien en installations sonores et performances qu\u2019en publications (livres, disques), vid\u00e9os et cr\u00e9ations de logiciels. L\u2019\u0153uvre que nous pr\u00e9sentons ici l\u2019Effeuillage des Effacements <\/em>prend la forme d\u2019un stack de 151 affiches \u00e0 emporter explicitant autant d\u2019effacements historiques de dettes nationales de pays endett\u00e9s.<\/span> Pour autant, l\u2019\u0153uvre trouve toute son efficacit\u00e9 dans la dialectique contradictoire de son protocole de fonctionnement. Le geste d\u2019effeuillage auquel le spectateur se retrouve invit\u00e9 rejoint en effet de fa\u00e7on po\u00e9tique la nature du geste politique affirm\u00e9. En m\u00eame temps, la disparition progressive de ces affiches d\u2019effacement r\u00e9sonne aussi comme la m\u00e9moire \u00e9ph\u00e9m\u00e8re et l\u2019inanit\u00e9 relative de ces gestes politiques courageux, qui ne remettent pas fondamentalement en question les paradigmes fondamentaux et fondateurs du syst\u00e8me financier de notre monde globalis\u00e9.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Matthieu Saladin is an artist and musician.<\/span> His practice is part of a conceptual approach to art, reflecting, through a recurrent use of sound, on the production of spaces, the history of forms and creative processes, as well as on the relationships between art and society from an economic and political point of view. It takes the form of sound and performance installations as well as publications (books, records), videos and software creations. The work that we are presenting here, Effeuillage des Effacements<\/em> takes the form of a stack of 151 there-for-the-taking posters explaining an equal number of historical cancellations of national debts from indebted countries.<\/span> However, the work derives its full effect from the contradictory dialectic of its very operating protocol. The gesture of removal to which the spectator finds himself invited poetically ties in with the nature of the affirmed political gesture.
