Nevertheless, through collaborations, in particular with Thorsten Baensch/Bartleby & co, in recent years she has developed an affinity with the possibilities of reproducing pictorial works in editorial projects. In 2019, she did a residency at the Frans Masereel Centrum where she explored the potential of using Risograph copiers and laser cutting or printing in order to transcend the pictorial potential of these reproduction tools. The works presented here were produced during that residency. They are laser cut-outs on cork or wood, of reproductions of iconic works of 17th century Spanish or 19th century French painting (by Velasquez and Manet) of which only fleeting shadows remain. They therefore function as an engaged statement on the forgotten destinies of these figures sacrificed on the altar of mainstream history, and equally as a critical commentary on the growing evanescence of our cultural references.

["post-95687","extra","type-extra","status-publish","hentry
["GET
