Meurant \u00e9voque volontiers l\u2019attitude de cannibalisation du r\u00e9el par les images. <span class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-color-color\">C\u2019est tout naturellement vers la fin de notre parcours d\u2019exposition que nous pr\u00e9sentons<em> INdirect_chattering.mrnt<\/em>, 1996\u20112021, une reconfiguration d\u2019une \u0153uvre de jeunesse de l\u2019artiste. Il s\u2019agit d\u2019un auto\u2011portrait en buste, sculpt\u00e9 en 1996 dans un bloc Ytong, dont la chevelure se d\u00e9veloppe en une efflorescence feuillag\u00e9e \u00e0 la m\u00e9taphore germinative, prolong\u00e9e en 2021 par un sticker imprim\u00e9,<\/span> contamin\u00e9 par les empreintes de l\u2019artiste ainsi que par la poussi\u00e8re produite par les manipulations du bloc. Le tout est d\u00e9sormais pos\u00e9 sur un pi\u00e9destal plastique constitu\u00e9 en r\u00e9alit\u00e9 par un collecteur d\u2019eau au motifs tress\u00e9s, somm\u00e9 par un projecteur led qui r\u00e9agit au sons produits par les personnes pr\u00e9sentes dans l\u2019espace d\u2019exposition.<span class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-color-color\"> La m\u00e9taphore du dispositif d\u2019ensemble est efficace et particuli\u00e8rement pertinente, dans la mesure o\u00f9 nous sommes tous les r\u00e9ceptacles et contenants d\u2019une multiplicit\u00e9 d\u2019inputs et stimuli, et les agents d\u2019une r\u00e9flexion et en r\u00e9\u2011\u00e9laboration constante de notre propre <em>his\u2011story<\/em> individuelle.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">English<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Between sculpture, installation, painting and printed image, G\u00e9rard Meurant&#8217;s practice defies any definition or narrow categorization: it assumes a position of willful porosity and contamination, from one discipline to another, but also from one works to another, from one image to another, or, more fundamentally, in an incessant back-and-forth dynamic between the concrete, physical world and virtual reality. Meurant freely evokes the attitude of the cannibalization of reality by images. <span class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-color-color\">It is quite naturally towards the end of our exhibition route that we present<em> INdirect_chattering.mrnt<\/em>, 1996-2021, a reconfiguration of a work of the artist&#8217;s early youth, a 1996 bust self-portrait carved in an Ytong block, in which an impressive floral motif blooms from the top of the hair, in a powerful metaphor of germination,<\/span> extended in 2021 by a printed sticker, contaminated by the artists handprints as well as by the dust generated by the block. <span class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-color-color\">The bust now rests on a column-like structure made up of a water collector, whose plastic shapes try to evoke a manual weaving, topped by a led projector reacting to the sounds emitted by the visitors in the exhibition space. We are indeed all both containers and collectors of a multiplicity of inputs, reacting to a variety of stimuli, thus constantly reflecting and reshaping our own individual<em> his-story.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","class_list":["post-95672","extra","type-extra","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.centredelagravure.be\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/extra\/95672","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.centredelagravure.be\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/extra"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.centredelagravure.be\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/extra"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.centredelagravure.be\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=95672"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
