\u00c9l\u00e9ments de r\u00e9alit\u00e9 et fictionnels se rencontrent et se t\u00e9lescopent de fa\u00e7on r\u00e9currente dans l\u2019univers d\u2019Aleksandra Chaushova qui pratique et avec autant d\u2019aisance et de virtuosit\u00e9 l\u2019estampe, l\u2019art imprim\u00e9, le dessin qu\u2019elle m\u00e9lange souvent dans ses installations. Longtemps, elle a investigu\u00e9 les m\u00e9canismes de formation et de d\u00e9formation de notre m\u00e9moire et de notre inconscient collectif, recourant d\u2019ailleurs souvent de fa\u00e7on m\u00e9taphorique \u00e0 des jeux de d\u00e9structuration et de rupture d\u2019\u00e9chelles.

En l\u2019occurrence, son point de d\u00e9part a \u00e9t\u00e9 une recherche dans l\u2019univers des brevets industriels, et plus pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment dans celui de manom\u00e8tres pouvant supporter et mesurer de tr\u00e8s hautes pressions. Utilis\u00e9s dans l\u2019univers des combustibles fossiles dont l\u2019usage plonge pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment nos soci\u00e9t\u00e9s dans les crises que nous connaissons, ces manom\u00e8tres nous mettent \u00ab\u00a0sous\u00a0pression\u00a0\u00bb \u00e0 de nombreux \u00e9gards. C\u2019est plus sp\u00e9cifiquement un brevet de manom\u00e8tre de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Armaturenbau Gmbh (ex\u2011Armano) qui sert ici de fond imprim\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019installation.<\/span> Fond\u00e9e en 1908, Armano est l\u2019une des plus anciennes compagnies du secteur, \u00e0 l\u2019histoire souvent trouble et mouvement\u00e9e : ses propri\u00e9taires fondateurs en furent spoli\u00e9s sous le r\u00e9gime nazi avant qu\u2019elle prenne son nom actuel en 1948. Ces derni\u00e8res d\u00e9cennies, elle a connu une expansion particuli\u00e8re<\/span> vers la Russie et le Kazakhstan, avant de traverser actuellement des difficult\u00e9s en raison de l\u2019embargo vers la Russie et de la diminution du fracking<\/em> et de l\u2019exploitation du gaz de schiste aux USA.<\/span> Un grand dessin au pastel, d\u00e9structurant cet instrument qui cristallise les impasses et options discutables du d\u00e9veloppement \u00e9conomique et \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique de nos soci\u00e9t\u00e9s, se d\u00e9tache sur le fond imprim\u00e9 du brevet.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elements of reality and fictionality recurrently meet and collide in the world of Aleksandra Chaushova, who practices, with equal fluency and virtuosity, traditional printmaking, mechanical printing, and drawing, often combining these techniques in her works.\u00a0For a long time, she has investigated the mechanisms whereby our memories and our collective unconscious are formed or distorted, often through metaphorical games of deconstruction and disruption of scale.

In this case, her starting point was research into the world of industrial patents, and more specifically, that of manometers that can withstand and measure very high pressures. Used in the world of fossil fuels, the very consumption of which plunges our societies into the crises we are experiencing, these pressure gauges put us “under pressure” in many ways.<\/span>\u00a0More specifically, it is a pressure gauge patent from the company Armaturenbau Gmbh (ex\u2011Armano) which is used here as the printed background for the installation. Founded in 1908, Armano is one of the oldest companies in the sector, with an often troubled and eventful history: its founding owners saw their assets seized under the Nazi regime before it took its current name in 1948. In recent decades, it has expanded particularly towards Russia and Kazakhstan, before currently experiencing difficulties due to the embargo against Russia and the decrease in fracking and the exploitation of shale gas in the USA.
