With anger or with kindness, with passion or with stealth, a number of female artists cast an eye on those nearest and dearest to them as well as at society in general, which still all too often locks them in the mould of feminine stereotypes. Looking beyond the façade their world is halfway between reality and poetry, between factual observation and sensitive expression. Fantasy and cruelty whisper from some images, while from others all we hear are loud screams.
At a time when the dictating influences of contemporary art and the globalisation of the art market are omnipresent, voices stand out to focus a different light on our individual and collective memories.
